Anaïs Maviel is an artist, vocalist, composer & multi-instrumentalist dedicated to translating spiritual concepts to sensory experiences, using sound as medicine & alchemy. With traditional and experimental approaches, her works investigate the power of sound to shape reality, and emphasize the relevance of cultural hybridity. She navigates song, choral, instrumental, orchestral music and staging with a strong connection to cosmologies of sound and speech rooted in oral traditions such as mantra and ring shout. She strives to bridge the gaps between genres & to create a diverse, inclusive, yet sacred musical experience. Among her music collaborators, Alarm Will Sound, Craig Taborn, The Rhythm Method, Meshell Ndegeocello, Meredith Monk, Aruán Ortiz & William Parker. Collaborations with dance include Contra-Tiempo, Urban Bush Women, Merce Cunningham Trust, Okwui Okpokwasili & the Commons Choir. Visual arts collaborators include Sean Webley, Nene Humphrey & Steffani Jemison. Anaïs facilitates vocal liberation with a focus on the body, its environmental, archetypal and cosmic resonances.

Aquiestoy (Seattle, USA) Guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, and facilitator. Practitioner of Ay Ombe Performance Autology© (creative process based on the autobiography of the doer). Aquiestoy (I be here) is the name of his personal creative laboratory and latest music project of Carlos Snaider. Of Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian descent, Carlos's songwriting and performances seek to create new sounds that harmonize inner and outer environments. As a facilitator, Carlos explores creative wellness through a variety of wellness tools that he maintains to live as a independent artist, including theatre exercises, martial arts, embodied rhythm, silence, and home wellness practices.

About "The Art of Listening"

From deep within to far outward, listening gives us access to vibrational awareness. From this place, one's unique sound can be expressed and heard.  This intimate 4-hour workshop, open to all, is an intensive that includes practical tools for accessing and activating ones personal energy and vibratory attunement as expressed through sound and the voice, and extending beyond into life/wellness practices for creative longevity. Carlos and Anaïs draw from their personal creative practices of harmonic singing, rhythm play, inward and outward listening, improvisation, and embodiment exercises for joy and vitality. Grounded in ancestral spiritual embodiment practices, we'll explore ways to align with one's truthful tone, and apply our findings to the micro <> macro laboratory of harmonic singing.

We are collaborating with the Cedar Tea House, a new "sobriety-friendly space in the South End that prioritizes nurturing community, wellness, and creativity" (South Seattle Emerald). Tea and food will be served in a private setting (the shop will remain closed), allowing for exploration of sound and expression in a safe and controlled space.
